Preparing an Image for a Drawing Video
Choose and prepare a source image for a readable drawing video, with practical checks for text, contrast, crop and image permissions.
Start with what viewers need to see
A small, clear subject is usually easier to assess than a busy screenshot. Decide which detail matters: the face in a character illustration, the parts in a diagram, or the shape of a product. Remove unrelated application chrome before uploading, using your image editor. Speedpaint does not provide a layer editor.
Keep an untouched copy of the source. A generated drawing can interpret texture and fine detail differently from the original. If exact lettering, numbers or geometry matter, compare the result against that copy before sharing.
Check the source at its viewing size
Open the image at roughly the size your audience will see it. Thin grey lines and tiny labels may be hard to read on a phone even before animation. Increasing output resolution cannot restore information absent from the upload. Avoid repeatedly compressing the same image.
Upload a supported image through Studio. If it is already a drawing, use the input option that tells Studio it is a sketch; otherwise the sketch style controls how it is interpreted.
Review the shape before spending credits
Original framing keeps the image's proportions. Other aspect ratios fit the complete image onto the chosen canvas, which can introduce space. Background removal is a separate choice; it does not choose the important parts of your composition for you.
Try a restrained drawing style and inspect the finished video and sketch. When something is inaccurate, change the source or settings for a new generation rather than assuming the original artist's process has been recovered.
Use only images you have permission to process and share. An upload or generated result does not give you rights to somebody else's artwork.
